I don’t notice any effects. Why is that?

Individual reactions to different preparations can vary. The same is true of PlaqueOff Animal and of our dogs and cats. If you don’t notice any effects initially, it is likely just an issue of time as the tendency to form tartar can vary by breed and age.

In certain cases, the recommended dosage may be too low. If you haven’t noticed any effects after two months, increase the dosage. Once a visible effect has been attained, reduce it back to a normal dosage. Often, PlaqueOff has been effective even if build-up remains on the teeth. Try to brush or scrape away any build-up you see and you’ll likely discover that it is easier to remove than before.

Can humans take PlaqueOff Animal?

Yes, take two scoops daily. However, there are also  tablets designed for humans, called PlaqueOff Human.

How long can I give my pet PlaqueOff Animal?

You should give your pet PlaqueOff Animal on a regular basis in accordance with the dosage instructions, as problems with plaque, tartar and bad breath will otherwise return. Results can usually be seen after approximately four weeks and the positive effects will remain as long as the powder is used.

Can I stop brushing my dog’s teeth?

PlaqueOff Animal is not a substitute for brushing in humans or animals. By brushing your pet’s teeth, you help remove existing plaque and tartar.

Will my cat be getting too many vitamins and minerals by taking PlaqueOff Animal?

PlaqueOff Animal does contain a wide array of vitamins, minerals and trace elements, but in very small quantities. Hence, this does not present a problem even if your pet is already receiving vitamin and mineral supplements.

I have a finicky cat. Will my cat eat this?

Most dogs and cats like the smell and taste. If not, you can start with a small dosage until your pet gets used to it. Alternatively, try mixing it with a little fish pate, yogurt or the like.

Tartar contains a lot of calcium. Have any studies been done on the potential effects of PlaqueOff on the bones?

PlaqueOff has no effect on the bones. Its effects are on the saliva, so calcium remains in the saliva instead of being shed as tartar. It is the pH value in the mouth from eating carbohydrate-rich food and beverage, not PlaqueOff Animal, that loosens tartar. It cannot alter the pH balance in the blood. There are no studies that show that consuming PlaqueOff Animal damages the skeletal system (or tooth enamel); on the contrary, studies indicate a positive effect on the bones, due to the vitamin D contact among other reasons. Several studies by Yamaguchi et al (1998-2000) also show that the phenols in algae stimulate bone synthesis.

How is existing tartar removed?

It is a natural process in the mouth, and not PlaqueOff, that is responsible for loosening up existing tartar. Tartar normally undergoes a natural process of wear both mechanically and due to bacterial acids, but buildup happens more quickly than wear. Tartar-causing plaque collects very quickly on the surface of the tooth. But PlaqueOff Animal fights plaque buildup on the teeth, meaning the naturally occurring, constant process of wear on the tartar will have visible results.

Can I give my pet PlaqueOff Animal if my dog or cat has extremely high levels of tartar?

Yes, but we recommend that if your animal has high levels of tartar, you should schedule a dental exam and tooth cleaning with your veterinarian. The mouth should always be examined during yearly veterinary checkups.

Can all animals take PlaqueOff?

Algae contain iodine. Normally, iodine is a healthy and important part of an animal’s diet. However, in animals with hyperthyroidism, which is very rare in dogs, iodine should be avoided. The animal’s entire diet should be monitored as many foods contain iodine. PlaqueOff Animal has not been tested on pregnant or nursing animals, and should therefore be avoided during this time.

Are there any dangerous side effects?

No. PlaqueOff is a 100% natural alga without any known dangerous side effects. Certain individual animals may react with an upset stomach and the best way to resolve this is to first reduce the dosage and gradually increase it as your pet adjusts. If your pet has a sensitive stomach, you can also start with a lower dose. Reactions such as itching may occur in animals with algae hypersensitivity/allergies.
